"I'm tall enough and I'm 15 3 months from 16 let me go to the committee meeting." "Talk to me when you can Adam." " why does he hate me mother?" In the book April morning by Howard Fast. Adam just wants to become a man. But his mother and father don’t think he is ready, just like all parents in the world. Adam thinks its just him that gets treated poorly by his father wishing that his father Moses "wouldn’t look at him like mud scraped out of the floor of the barn."
after a man comes riding into the town he and his father run outside to see what all of the commotion is about that early in the morning. This man tells the townsman that the British soldiers are coming to take the land, the Towns people obviously don't want this to happen so they get a militia ready to fight back. This book would be completely different if Adams father had told it.
If his dad had told this story it would be different. I think his father would just be trying to make sure his son doesn't do anything bad in his future. He probably just wants to make sure his son is disciplined enough for what is to come. Once he has a family that he has to take care of, Adam would probably thank him for what he had said and done in the past. After the rider had come and told him the British have a few thousand men coming for their land, I think he had known Adam would come to sign the book for the militia. he just didn't want him to grow up to fast but no parent would want that.
After Adam leaves to go Fight the British I think his dad is proud of his son for making that decision. At the same time he probably misses his son because he won't be able to take care of their family all by himself until his little brother is old enough to help. or until Adam comes back but that's a different story.
